Home inspections in Brooklyn

Brownstones in Park Slope, frame two-families in Bensonhurst, new condos in Williamsburg. Brooklyn's housing is some of the most varied in the city.

Brownstones and rowhouses

Century-old brownstones need a close look at the façade and stoop, cornices and parapets, roof drainage on shared flat roofs, floor framing that's been cut for plumbing, and mechanical systems that have been patched for decades. We look closely at old wiring, at galvanized and lead supply lines, and at the transition where old cast-iron drains meet new PVC.

Frame and brick multi-families

Much of southern and eastern Brooklyn is two- and three-family homes. We inspect every unit plus the shared boiler, meters and roof, and we note basement or attic spaces that look like they're being used as apartments. See our multi-family inspection page.

Waterfront and flood zones

In parts of Red Hook, Gowanus, Coney Island and Canarsie, we pay extra attention to basement moisture, mechanical equipment location and signs of past flooding.

Questions from Brooklyn buyers

Do you inspect brownstones with rental units?
Yes. We inspect the owner's triplex and every rental unit, plus the shared systems.
Can you check for past flood damage?
We look for water lines, corrosion on mechanicals, replaced drywall and moisture readings. Thermal imaging helps a lot here.
